Help filing form AR-11 – spending one school semester abroad

I am an asylee, and I reside in California. I applied and got my application accepted to study abroad, from mid August to the end of December of this year, in the program from my university in California. I am going to Montreal, Canada.

Has anybody done that (study abroad in a program that originated from an U.S. University)? I am going to keep my address in California for other purposes (paying bills and stuff), and will be coming back to this same address for the spring semester in 2006. So, should I change my address with USCIS, using form AR-11? I think I should do the change of address, but I am afraid USCIS will mess up sending their correspondence to me if I change my address. Also, there is the possibility that I will move around 2 or 3 times while I am in Canada which can complicate things further.

Any constructive ideas, and personal experiences will be apreciated ...
:)

As this will be only a temporary change of address, research this further and make sure that you have to report it. My guess would be that you do not have to report a temporary change of address as long as you are still getting your mail in your permanent address. Check it out. The AR 11 does not allow you to put down a Canadian address anyway.

I do not think you need to change your address if it is only temporary or for school purposes. When I was in med school in CA I did not notify them. I just moved to another state to start my residence. As I am working now I need to fill out an AR-11 to change my address.
