Hello! I need any advice or suggestions i can get. For a non-profit, we employ a lady from the phillipinnes who is now a US citizen. Being highly qualified for the position, she has her daughter (with 2 children) separated in the phillippines with the same qualifications. We have spent a while looking fill a similar position, and, she told her daughter, who faxed us everything we needed to know that we want to hire her. Being a non-profit, we have to get bids and use 'our lawyer' - who told us, "i would guess they would take about the same amount of time, it shouldn't matter." -- so he knows very little, and we need to get her here.
So, should we try to get her here on an h1-b visa (are there any left? when is earliest she could come, oct.1st?) -- or help her mother to bring her here on a GC, family. The daughter is married, over 21, but separated, and the husband is not coming, not in the picture. Or, skip the h1 visa and try for a working GC?
also, if she were to come on a different temporary visa, such as a J, even though her mother has a GC and is Citizen of US now, she can't change status after she is here to a GC via family because anything on a J must leave the country for 2 years after completion, right?
Thank you to anyone who would know the best way to get her here ASAP.
If you could just point us in the right direction, we can figure out what to do, or how to do it. Just which one???
Thank you all for these forums,
