Help! F1-OPT

My sixth month pre-completion OPT exprires on Dec 21st 2005. I applied for an extension of my OPT on Nov 4th 2005, the status of which is still pending. My employer says that I have to come off payroll since I no longer have work authorization. Can I not seek an extension of my current working status by the fact that I have applied for the OPT extension?
 
No, you cannot

You can't get paid unless you HAVE work authorization. Simply applying for it will not be enough (i called one of the international student advisors after seeing your post and this is what i got).
