Help: EB11-140/485 pending, what if no job?

My friend filed EB11 concurrently a year ago in VSC. Now 140 is till pending. His H1B will reach 6 years' limit in October. His current job will end at the end of June. He want to join with his family belongs to NSC. He has not got a new job. So the questions are:
1) Is his EB11 application still valid if he does not work after July?
2) Does he need to apply H4 visa?(his spouse is H1B)? If he changes to H4, will EB11 application still valid?
3) Will the application be trasfered to NSC? if it is transfered to NSC, How to count the date to start the application, from a year ago or from the date it is transfered to the new service center?
4) He has got EAD. If sometime later he gets a job, can he use EAD to work?

Your suggestions/advices are greatly appreciated!

Your friend cannot change to H4 since 6yr limit is in all H categories(H1+H4). However since he has EAD he should try and get a similar job soon (perhaps where his family is) and use AC21 since it is more than a year after filing 485. The other option, if he can extend his job with the same employer would be to get a 7th year H1 extension
