Hi...I am getting married soon. I don\'t know where to start the process to file for my fiancee to come to the US. Should I start the process now even though I am not a US citizen? Would it be easier for me to file for a visitors visa then it would be to file for a permanent visa for my fiancee? How long is the process? Is there an easier way to file for my fiancee? If you have any answers that can help me out please advise me on what to do. Thanks, dwgiffiths

I think the fastest way is for you to get your citizenship and THEN file for him. Otherwise it takes in the neighborhood of 6 years and he can\'t be in the US while before the process is complete.

depends.

As a permanent resident, you may marry and file I-130. visa will become available in approximately 5 to 8 years (depends on her home country: see visa bulletin at www.travel.state.gov.). three years after I-130 filing the V visa may become available, otherwise, she must wait outside the US for the visa.

As a US citizen, you may file I-129F for your fiancee. Consular processing will result in 90 day visa and entry whereupon you may wed her and file for a GC. you may NOT file I-129F for your spouse if you have already married.

As a US Citizen, you may marry her and file for I-130 as per normal processing (either consular processing if she is in home country or via I-485, if she is in the US).
