Hi Folks,

I hope someone can help me with this. I had my citizenship interview on July 10th in Kansas City. I had moved to Wichita in May, but told the service center that I want to attend the interview in Kansas city, as I had received the notice of interview in April, while I was still in Kansas City. Anyways, I changed my address while I was at the interview and never heard from them till now. I thought let me call and find out what is happening, as I had a couple of days off. To my surprise, after being on hold for 45 minutes, the lady at USCIS told me on the phone that they had sent me a notice for Oath ceremony on August 23rd and the actual ceremony is on 09/22/06 at 9:30 AM. She told me that I can go to the venue of oath ceremony and see if they will let me get in and
take the oath. If they won't then, I will have to take an info pass and figure out what to do. I never received any notice and the lady also told me that they don't have any record of the letter being returned.

Can anyone tell me if they were in a similar situation and what they did or can someone suggest something?

Thanks in Advance.

I took my aoth on Sept 14, 2006 in Washington, D.C. Two people showed up without their letter. The officer in charge made them fill out a similar form they should have received in the mail and let them in. It might be different in your District, but I don't see why they shouldn't let you in.

If you have time go for an infopass, but that might not be possible given the time contraint. I think you should go to the ceremony anyway. It's better to go and be turned away then not going at all. Bring all the other necessary documents. Most of these people are reasonable, they'll understand your situation.

Good Luck,

Newly

Thanks Newly.

I did take the Infopass appointment which luckily was available this morning. I spoke to an officer and she checked my file and printed off a copy of oath invitation letter and gave me a form with questions to fill out and bring to the oath ceremony.

Thanks and my problem is solved.
