help, Ciba, we got screwed up here

I filed I485 in Sept, 1999, at San Diego local office, then my wife filed her I485 as following-to-join in Nov. 2000, also at San Diego local office. However, we never got any receipt notice back from the INS. what we have at hand are only the receipts from local office when we filed and A#(we got that when filing the case). We checked our bank and found the checks have been cashed soon after we filed. Today, after a desperate waiting, we got through the CSC phone service, and they told us they couldn\'t find our cases based on A#. what can we do? we really appreciate for your kindly help.

If you are employment-based, your case should be filed at CSC, not
San Diego. This could be the mistake. Did you file your case by
yourself? Have you gotten EAD or AP?

our I485 are family-based, we filed them by ourselves at San Diego local office. We got EAD and AP.
