mother+father were refused visitor visa. reason given 221 (g) "other: administrative processing"

can someone tell what to do in this situation?

does anyone has any recent experience like this?

what things to remember when reapplying? (planning to re-apply next week)

any help is appreciated.

thanks

Is this the first time they are applying? whats questions did the officer ask? were any of them eligible for drop box?

Yes it was the firt time parents applied for the visa.

questions: how many children do u have? what do u do? why do u want to go to usa?

drop box: my father (64) is eligible for drop box but mother (58) is not. so they asked us to send both for interview together.

anybody has any info what this "administrative processing" reason mean?

thanks

Did they write "B1" or "B2" in their application? B1 is for business visitors.

What were their answers to the questions? May be something in that was inappropriate from a visa point of view (pregnancy of daughter/daughter-in-law, etc..)

Please post details.

parents got the visa

Parents got the visa in second attempt.

I sent an email on 22May to Mumbai consulate (MUMBAINIV@state.gov) asking what was the specific reason(s) to refuse the visa. they did not reply for that but i got an email on 25th from them saying that
"This office has received the necessary visa clearance for your pending visa
case. Please visit this office on any working day between 10.00 am to 10.30
am. Please carry along all your travel related documents at the time of your
reinterview."

It did not make sense why they refused the first time and what this email meant.

Anyways.

One imp thing I came to know that VFS (visa facilitation services:checks your application) kept the originals we sent with the DS156 (which no one should) and for the second interview parents could get those back.

parents went with new application and originals and got the visa for ten years.

no questions asked in second interview.

Good luck to all applicants.

bye
