HELP: Applying for citizenship

My wife and I are applying for US citizenship and need help with following queries;

Do we need to fill N-400 application for each?

We have 10 years old child (born outside of US) who came with us on H4 visa and later obtained Green Card. Which form should be filled for citizenship? (N-400 or N-600)

Thanks in advance.

More questions -
If one applies N400 ,how does the applicant let the USCIS know that it should be considered under 4years - 1day rule? Is it the forward letter with the application?
If there is any more than 6 months trips abroad, is it wise to explain the reason in the forward letter?
Thanks in Advance

Yes. Citizenship applications are processed separately and independently.

N-600. But note that the N-600 is for proof of citizenship which is already there either from birth or derived from a parent, not obtaining citizenship (which would happen automatically when you naturalize, assuming the child is still living with you as a permanent resident). Instead of or in addition to the N-600, you can also apply for a passport for your child, which would also be proof of US citizenship. The N-600 is expensive and takes several months. However, a key advantage of the N-600 is that it does not expire, and it is very useful for obtaining a new passport if the original passport is lost.

Yours is a separate issue, so please start your own thread.

Thanks for your reponse.

Got response from others saying that child become citizen automatically when parents get USC (naturalized)

How does the child get US passport after parents get USC? What is the procedure (or documents to provide)?

Thanks. (We're about to submit our application for USC)

Once one parent gets their USC, they can apply for a child's passport by submitting their natz cert along with the birth certificate, child's GC and other documents (e.g. marriage cert) as required by the State Dept. Follow the instructions given in the passport application package available from your nearest post office.
