HELP - anyone run into a missing "A" file situation?

My spouse had her I-485 interview today at the local INS office (transferred from NSC) and we were told that everything is fine but they cannot approve the case till her "A" file is located (EB case, RD Jan 2001. The rest of the family has already been approved). We were told NSC made 2 requests to the INS office that last had her A-file. THe requestes were made last year but office hasn\'t responded and that the local office will now make a third request.

- Has anyone run into this situation?

- How long does it take to get this resolved?

- Anything we can do?

Thanks for any info you can provide as I\'ve not seen this type of situation in any other posts to this site.

Wait for sometime and then get hold of your congressman and ask him for help

A friend of mine, his wife\'s case was transferred to chicago
and nothing was happening for more than a year. Same case
no file available. Finally he contacted his sentaor.
and voila his wife got a interview withing weeks and was
approved.
