Hi everyone,
I applied for asylum in the USA, but it got denied. During the process, my Indian passport expired, and it's now been five years since. A friend advised me to renew it, but one of the requirements is to share my current status in the USA with the Indian consulate. My current status is based on my Employment Authorization Document (EAD), and I'm concerned the Indian consulate will find out I applied for asylum in the USA.
My questions are:

My questions are:
- What happens if the Indian government learns that I sought asylum in the USA? Could I face legal trouble or arrest when I return to India?
- I am soon getting a green card through my marriage, but I don't want my spouse's name on my passport. Should I apply now, or wait until after I get my green card?
