Heard from USCIS via Senator's Office

I had requested the Senator's Office to initiate an inquiry into our pending 485 cases on 2/12/2004. They heard back from USCIS today (2/24/2004) and following was their response:

Finger prints and FBI name/date of birth check completed with I-485. I have requested the files and will ask they be assigned to officer to work. Anticipate applicants will hear about status of I-485 in about 60 days.

I had a few questions:
o Is there still a likelihood of receiving an RFE?
o For those already approved and who had received a similar response in the past, how long does it take for approval from this point on?

Thanks in advance.

Yes, RFE is still a possibility. Assigning a case to an officer means that the officer will review all the documents, then either approve/reject the case or send RFE for further information. Let's hope you get the approval without any RFE. Good luck.

Thanks for your response and kind wishes. Yes, I hope the approval comes through soon without any RFE.

I heard the same.

The only difference is that the Aide asked me to call her back after a month and she will make another inquiry again. I will pray to God for a faster approval.

Yes ref, transfer , everything is possible but not to scare you. It was with me first wait for 60 days then again wait till end of Feb ,still waiting .
