i know it may not be the very right forum to ask about health insurance but as a new asylee i am in a need of your advise, guys. Is there any affordable health insurance which are good indeed? Or is there any special programs for asylees?
i asked about health insuarnce from an asylee who was granted asylum in 1989 .She told me that the most convenient health insuarnce for u is blueshield bluecross which is private insurence co. and u dont need to be employed to get that INsuarence. But i think asylees eligible for some medical assistant through nearest asylee & refugee resetlement agency .we gotta register during 8 months.U need to get at least dental insuarnce.
Recently i had a dental problem i spent a lot of money cause i didnt have dental insuarnce . i understood it is a lot of paperwork to get a health insuarnce .
even if you pay for medical insurance you will not have dental.
Medical insurance is not so much paperwork and you can even get online. In California< kaiser is the cheapest option.
I strongly advise you to get any kind of medical insurance. There are cheaper options for emergencies only etc. but get something. Even one trip to the emergency room for a minor injury or food poisoning will cost you more than 1 yr worth of insurance.
you can get separate dental insurance which is around $10 a month (I've seen some advertisements). What do they cover? You will have to check with them.
Please conduct a search on previous threads... I posted information on the 8-month benefits Asylees are eligible for.
As for insurance - if you are a college student, you might try to get rates from the university. I know most universities deal with insurance companies that reduce rates for students. This would be the easiest route if you are a student.
If not, then you have some research to conduct- as there are a lot of options out there. Some of which aren't good, so please be careful with shopping around.
Hello, try checking out this site, might help you with your concern( http://www.insurance-quote-free.com/chris
)I was amazed with the premiums I was quoted on. The entire quote was
automated, simple questions and straight forward answers.
you can go to check some free health insurance provided by your state or city government for low income residents, to which asylees may be eligible. for example, there is a Health Plus Plan in New York City, which is free for asylees.
