The Programmer's Guild is, and has been since I became aware of them almost 2 years ago, strongly anti-immigration and even more strongly anti-H-1B.
It sounds as if what HCL did (assuming the Guild's description of the situation is accurate) is replace senior US workers with less experienced (and therefore less expensive) H-1 workers. I do note that some of the statements made in the "newletter" are not entirely accurate.
