Hawaii visit: Immigration documents ?

Hi!

I live in Washington, DC and am planning to visit Hawaii in December. I was on student visa until recently. My H1-B visa processing is currently underway ( I've got my I-797, but have not yet got it stamped on my passport).

Is there any immigration check for travel between mainland US and Hawaii, or is it considered to be identical to travelling within the 48 contiguous states ?

I would greatly appreciate any assistance, pointers, or clarifications..

We just came back fro Hawaii and never took anything with us except our state IDs. Travel between Hawaii is considered Domestic travel. Hope this helps.
