Having got the A number.....

I got couple of questions regarding my pending I-485 approval (Dec 2004).

I have a visa number assigned to my application, now would I be affected by the retrogression since the retrogression is primarily for people without a A#.

I went and checked my online status for my application and it said it was last updated (09/28/05), and still pending? Does anyone have any suggestions why is it still pending when I have done my FP 3 (08/05). Do I need to do a medical for final approval of I485 or are there stages before the final approval?

Is there any way possible to know the exact status of application other than what is seen online.

Thanks in advance for any help.

What do you mean by "I have a visa number assigned to my application, now would I be affected by the retrogression since the retrogression is primarily for people without a A#."?

Explanation

Visa numbers are basically the Alien Registration number usually assigned to you once you file I-140/EAD/I-485 and finally this is the number assigned to you once you get the GC. Now from my understanding, this alien registration number is what is lacking. Now for people who already having being assigned the "A number", would they be affected by the retro?

That's not correct. Visa number is assigned when officer decides that 485 is ready for approval, A# is assigned on 485 filing.

So does this mean anything having the A#? Does one have to do medical when filing for 485? I don't understand why they did not approve my I-485 when my LUD changed on 09/28/05
