Have they ever asked for tax transcripts.

I dont think Tax Transcripts are listed as required documents. So, have they ever asked anybody to provide tax transcripts / W2 especially at chennai?
If you go for interview in may/june, do u have to get tax transcripts for 2002? What happens if you file for extension - good thing or bad thing?
If you have tax returns, do u still need tax transcripts? if you need tax transcripts, then do u have to carry your tax returns?

well this may help you.
I submitted the tax transcripts ( copies 1040 + state tax forms + w2 forms). They took my recent transcripts (2001) and returned the rest of them. Even though they were not mentioned in the documents.
They are asking for it and they are asking for the pay stubs also. In my case I said that I am working in the indian subsidary and hence I dont have the recent pay stubs from US. They acceped the excuse and gave us the visa.
What I feel is if they are checking these if you maintained leagal status and had your tax filings promptly. If you have an excuse they might accept it.
