Has USCIS pulled off one more trick?

Hi,

Today I have received a status update email from USCIS. Here is what it says.,

The last processing action taken on your case

Receipt Number: EAC000

Application Type: I485 , APPLICATION TO REGISTER PERMANENT RESIDENCE OR TO ADJUST STATUS

Current Status: Document mailed to applicant.

On January 10, 2008 we mailed the document to the address we have on file. You should receive the new document within 30 days. If you do not, or if you move before you get it, call customer service.

My case in Brief:
Derivative applicant
Filed June 2003. Primary and other derivatives approved Dec. 2004
Name check, finger prints everything up2date.
Have not applied for any other things like Parole and have an EAD which was renewed for fourth time last yr.

Has been assigned to officer in Nov 2007.

So what is the message saying? Anyone seen similar messages and what was in the mail.
Any thoughts would help?

"Document mailed" usually means RFE or denial.

And you should edit out the EAC number from your post. It can be used to identify who you are and other personal details.

I think "A decision has been mailed" usually means denial, but not document mailed. lot of people on this forum have never received any document inspite of the message.

It can be a service request reply (if you placed any) or address change information (if you updated any) also.

In my case none of those, I tried contacting IO, Infopass, Congressman nobody able to tell why "document mailed" message. TSC IO hinting it could be finger print notice, when we said we have already given, he verified himself and said finger print received and good, then he confused himself.

Now I am tired of finding the answer and left it there. Funny thing my attorney called IO and said green card mailed. So far nothing received.

I am guessing it is a computer glitch, lot of my friends here got similar message, but nothing received.

It means either of these two things: DENIAL or RFE

Update!

Appreciate all your responses folks.

Just when I thought I might not receive anything as ppl mentioned above. I did get a mail today and it is not I have seen anywhere.

well, the summary of what it says: "A permanent resident card was created for you and mailed on July 12, 2007 and post office returned it to us. As a courtesy, we are sending you the card for you with this letter again."
A thing was attached to the letter, but it was the returned envelope which was neatly opened-with no letter inside.
Other notable pts. Letter was officially from VSC from where it was sent to TSC and stamped by TSC. Also, it had all details of my app to think its an error.

I called CS and she asked me to fax her the letter and she would research it but she still sees the case as pending.

I will update on where this goes from here.
Appreciate any thoughts?
