Does anybody know if obtaining an O visa after being on a J-1 has gotten harder for some reason lately?
A friend of mine finished residency (competitive specialty, very few IMGs) and is currently in his fellowship. He consulted w an attorney who told him that the O-1 visa route was nearly impossible and that he should try something else. He hinted that you need like first authorships in Nature or NEJM in order to even be considered for that. He has articles, grants, etc.; in general, I thought, a very competitive profile for an O visa.
Any thoughts or any new information anybody?
Thanks!
