Has anybody faxed FBI lately?

Has anybody in the last 5 months inquired about his/her name check status with FBI?
What was the FBI response time to your inquiry? Did you have to call them after faxing the inquiry?
Did you get the response by e-mail?
 
I sent in a fax on 5/19
I havent received a reply yet

ibm101 which fax number did you use?also when did you receive your reply?

No. I did not call.

I do not have the FBI fax # right now but I will give later.

You will be getting reply shortly coz' they r really good in replying
 
no i havent called them after i faxed in my request.
i had called the office before the fax.the lady gave me the fax number.

I faxed my husband's details to FBI sometime mid May.
I have not heard a word since through his e-mail. In our case I guess, "response definitely in 10 days" theory does NOT hold true :confused:

I faxed the FBI for a name check on May 19th. Since I haven't received anything, I called today to check on the request and I was told that it takes 4 to 6 weeks to get an answer because of a huge backlog (already).

Can we trust the people on the other end who ever is receiving our fax. Anyone on the other hand get the fax and use the crucial information for identity theft. I just don't feel comfortable faxing my DOB, SS #, A#, N-400 receipt # etc. Did you guys felt the same way as me, and then faxed the info anyway because there was no other option available.

I guess ibm101 got his information in May fast because it was his second request and it didn’t take FBI long to answer the same question twice.

I hope your "Thank You" was sincere and not blaming me. If you are blaming me for the delays then I apologize, but I merely posted the numbers in response to suggestions that we stop PMing the info so everyone could benefit. Does anyone else feel this way? I am more than happy to delete my original post to prevent newcomers from calling these numbers if anyone thinks I did something wrong by sharing the information.

The info. ratrat provided is useful in my opinion. I don't think FBI is flooded by the people who visit this forum only. See the number of 'hits' of ratrat's post (probably couple of hundred?) and it is only a fraction of number of people who apply for N-400. HTH
