Greetings all who have applied for labor a year ago and are nearing the 6 year H1-B limit. From whitehouse website:

Statement by the Press Secretary

Today the President signed the following bills into law:

H.R. 2215, 21st Century Department of Justice Appropriations Authorization Act.

You can also see http://www.whitehouse.gov/news/releases/2002/11/20021102-7.html, not that there is anything more there.

Happy diwaly all of you...

Girgit,

trying to read the law at the web site ... may be I can't figure it out, does it say somewhere specifically anywhere about being able to extend the H1-B without having filed 140 as long as 365 days have passed sice the labor filing ?

Does any one know fro sure if this new law requires one to be employed with the compnay that filed the LCA for at least one year after filing ?
In my case I got laid off before 365 days after LCA filing but the company has not cancelled/withdrawn the LCA. Am i still o.k. to ask for the extension ? What would I need to ask for extension in that case ?
