Had to Postpone FP

Hello,

Unfortunately I had to postpone FP for my wife and I, due to the fact that our notice came while I was on travel. Can anyone tell me how long it takes to get rescheduled?
 
Another question... Our FP's are being processed in San Diego. Would it be possible to show up at a later date, before the rescheduled date is received from the USCIS? Anybody had any experience in doing this?
