Hey guys!

I know I'm not supposed to get food stamps, because I'm not a citizen and all that jazz. But what about my wife? She's a US born citizen. Can she apply individually for food stamps without getting us in trouble with the US government in our next interview?

A lot of people are struggling and we have a pretty low income - but she keeps saying she's scared that applying for food stamps under her name could jeopardize my legal status. Is this true, or just a myth?

If you have a green card, you are a Legal Permanent Resident or an “LPR.” Many LPRs who are low income can get SNAP/Food Stamps. Some LPR adults need to have 5 years in legal status before they can get SNAP/Food Stamps.

Yes, I understand. But I'm asking about my wife getting it, not me. So you're saying that she can get it, without any problems?
