H4 Visa Stamping within last six months

Has anyone done their H4 visa stamping from calcutta in the past year. If so, did you have to change your passport with your Husband's's last name or was it okay to just take some kind of annotation on the passport. If you have taken some annotation on the passport, can you please tell me what kind of annotation did your passport office gave you?

I only have two days in hand to get this annotation through? Would it be possible to get my annotation in just so many days.

Finally when you signed for H4 visa appointment through the ttsvisa services, what last name did you put on the website. DId you put your maiden last name or your husbands last name?

I would really appreciate if anyone can provide me some feedback on these questions. I have called the consulate office at calcutta and have been shocked to hear different responses from the officials.

Could you please explain what kind of response did u get from them . It will be helpful to us .
 
put the name as on or passport.
also get the husbands name endorsed on the passport, done at passport office, if u have source/chai pani then takes only a few hrs or else weeks.
the name will be annotated(added) by the passport authority in India on the last page.

One official told me that I have to get new passport for my wife with her maiden name changed to last mine. While another couple of times other official told me to get some kind of addendum to my wife's original passport indicating that the she was my wife and that her official last name has changed to my last name. Its kind of confusing...

i actually put my last name as her last name in the ttsvisas appointment site... do you know if thats going to cause some issue.. i will also check with the consulate on monday.. if its going to cause an issue I might have to modify the appointment.
 
So basically they are asking to change her last name along with the annotation ?

I also called calcutta consulate they told me two things

a) get your name annoted in her passport ..thats generally done on the page 3 of the passport

OR

b) get her last name changed to my last name , in that she will carry two passport one the old one which will be attached to the new one ?

For this when i told that i've already taken appointment for her in her maiden name and put the old(current) passport no there .. she told in that case when you submit the papers at the counter you can tell them that and they will change the name and passport info in their computer .

Since you will be having both the new and old passport that shouldn't be an issue ..

Do share your experience with us once she goes for stamping .when is her appointment?

September 24th. We will not have time to get a new passport for her after our marriage, as I am planning to head back within two weeks after the wedding. So we are planning just to have my name annotated on her passport and then head to the Visa interview.. Hope that does not take too long..
 
All the best ... incase you want her passport back early .... while submitting the docs tell the tts service representative that you want to collect the passport personally that way you can get the passport next working day from their office ... else depending on where u stay they will deliver it there but it might few days extra .....
 
IPC - you said you can collect the passport personally - is this choice offered at all ? i never heard or read anywhere that we can go collect it ourselves - that would help my wife because she needs to leave within 1 1/2 weeks of the interview and the delhi consulate keeps saying passports will delivered anywhere between 2-8 working days..now thats such a generic answer
