My wife used dropbox service & submitted her H4 visa application at chennai on NOV25,03(she is already on H4 for the past 5 years staying at USA). She got a query. She got a form from embassy having almost 20 items in it & checked for 1 item requesting to submit that checked item.
it says "W2 FORMS FOR ALL PEOPLE EMPLOYED BY THE PETITIONER"

1)What does that mean
2)Do i need to send all my ORIGINAL W2's or copies will Do?
3)Do i need to send any other optional documents as mentioned in this site or as they already once checked the docuemnts & asked for only 1,so should i send only the one requested by them?
4)Can she choose to attend personally or it has to be again through dropbox

Initially we submitted all documents except W2 forms,tax filings for past 4 years(submitted only the recent yr tax filings),bank statements,rental lease.I am right now in US having my H1 Valid till Oct04.

You will have to send W2's of every employee employed by your employer(consulting company). The consulate wants to check that your employer has no violated any rules by paying less than LCA to the other employee's. You are lucky that the consulate did not ask for your W2's / LCA / I-129 etc. Were you ever underpaid than the rate mentioned on the LCA?

Thanks for the info. Actually i am working as a permanent employee for an american company. we have total employees of
550. out of that 10 desis. 4 on H1 & 6 on GC. So What do i need to ask my HR ? W2's for 4 or 10 or more employees? Do they give others W2 forms to me? No one underpaid compared to LCA(including me). Thanks again for your valuable info.
 
You will need the W2's of the people who are on H-1 visa employed by your company(4 in your case). The W2 information is confidential and as per law the employer cannot disclose this without the consent of the employee who it belongs too. You can ask your employer to hand it over to you in a sealed envelope and you can take a cover letter from them saying there are 4 aliens hired by them and the W2's have been enclosed as per the request. This should be sufficient
 
Sure. Do I need to furnish only the info requested by embassy or is it a good(bad) idea to furnish other docs like my w2's, tax filing etc?

Including your W2's , I-129 and LCA for all the previous years would be advisable since you are also one of the employee's petitioned by your employer. If you have time you can also call IRS and ask for tax transcripts. They normally take about 10 days for you to receive in mail. You can also obtain them at the local IRS office by explaining to them why you need it immediately and it is required by the US consulate.

Thanks. I came to know through IRS site that tere are 2 types,tax return transcripts and tax account transcripts. (1)What transcripts Do i need exactly? (2)How are these different from what I got from H&R Blcok (on each years tax filing). (3) Does the local IRS office provides trancripts for all previous years or is it state to state dependent? (4) Is it some what common to request transcipts to give on the same day(I am intending to go personally to local office) or i'll the first person to ask like this?
(5) DO i need to show any proof to request for transcripts or verbal explanation will do?

you need the tax transcripts. normally they do not give it the same day(they used to before), but you may try to explain the situation and request them to issue immediately else if you call IRS it normally arrives in a week. My friend was lucky and he request the IRS person on phone to fax it to him and they did it. However I did not get it by fax.
 
I have one more question. In the form what my wife got from consulate nothing was checked whether to appear personally or use drop box. so now which option she has to choose?

That I am really not sure. Normally they do mention if they have to appear in person or send via drop box or submit to FPU. You might want to send an email to them and find out .
 
Good news!!! My wife's H4 visa got approved.
I wanted to share my experience:-

My company provided Company's last year Tax filing, recent quarter's tax filing & Tax id & 4 of others W2's in a sealed envelope.

Virginia's IRS people told that they cann't provide Tax transcripts personally & has to be obtained over phone. Luckily I managed to get'em through Fax. But they informed that normally they dont send over fax. It all depends on the person who receives the call.

My wife attended for a personal interview.They verified W2's, pay-stubs & asked couple of general questions & informed that it was approved & passport will be sent over mail.

Now we are waiting for the passport...

I never had a mis-match on LCA vs W2. I am not sure but what i understood was they haven't verified that info so thoroughly.I provided all my 5year tax returns info, nearly 30 paystubs. But they mainly focused to see the credibility of my current company/employer.

Great... I have mismatch for 1 year among the last 5 yrs i have lived here .. hope that wont create any issues for my spouse visa next year
 
As long as your most recent years W2/LCA looks OK, I believe you shouldn't have any problem. I think they don't dig into all 5 years history. PL. ensure that all your current employer documents accurate & appropriate.

Let me tell you some thing. I used to work for an american company(X) at NY. They laid me off after sep11. I joined next company(Y) only in NOV. Technically speaking I am out of status for 1 1/2 month. But I have severance paystubs for that period.

My wife had H4 visa on company X. Now she got it on Company Y.
Note: She had visa on company X valid till Jan-2004. But recently when she applied, first they cancelled her Visa on company X & requested for more docs on company Y.
