H4 Visa from Mumbai

I am going to India to get married next month. I currently have a H1 visa. What is the procedure to get a H4 visa for my wife in Mumbai? She will be travelling to US for the first time. Do I have to go to the consulate directly or do I have to go through some visa agency?

Thanks

No Title

You go to the consulate in Mumbai with you your marriage certificate, her birth certificate and pasport as well as your passport with your current Visa inside. Apparently, they are also asking for the H-1 approval notice these days. Good Luck and congratulations on your marriage.

Thanks a lot for your replies. So, it is not necessary to go throught he visa agency, it is just a convinience? By the way, Prashant, the site in the link that you have posted says that the drop box can be used only for somebody who has travelled to the US before.

I guess so ...

I think this is indeed the case for the Bombay Consulate - I will be applying in Delhi, and there, you HAVE to apply through drop-box for any kind of H Visa, irrespective of whether you have been to the US or not.

You are lucky, since the applications in Bombay seem to be taking only 2-3 working days, while the ones in Delhi take about 7-10.

All The Best - Prashant.
