H4 Visa for spouse -Mumbai

Hello,

I am currently working in USA on H1B visa. I am getting married in india on Oct 1st and returning back to USA on Oct 15th. I would like my wife to accompany me on the way back.

I have scheduled H4 visa appointment for my wife in mumbai on Oct 6th.
I received an email from visa-services.com to send the application and documents 30 days before the interview appointment date ( ie. before Sept 6th ).
I would like to know if the marriage certificate also needs to be sent along with the requested documents since it will be available only after the wedding which is Oct 1st.

It might be required, but I would try and send all the other documents like the wedding invitation and if possible photos of other ceremonies. Ans a cover letter explaining the situation. and mentioning that you will send the certificate as soon as possible.
 
sdias,do u know why they asked u send the docs 30 days before? i never heard of this before..also,do u know how long it takes to process the visa and send the passport back?
 
now mumbai wants you to send documents 30 days in advance of interview. Not the passport but the documents like H1 approval etc, check their website. some other documents and passprt are carried when going for interview.

After the interview, you know and submit passprt for stamping usually returned within a week (average 2-4days) if no other issues like name check, security clearance etc.
 
well the last time i checked the website i didn't see that mentioned..maybe i missed it..is it just for mumbai?
yeah i thought it was 2-4 days for processing the visa..i got my H1 renewed in mumbai within 3 days too..but someone told me for fresh applicants it can take longer..hence the reason for asking..
this reminds me of one more thing - how long does it take to get the husband's name attested on the wife's passport?
 
sdias,waitintoolong, i checked the website..there are 2 ways of scheduling an appointment - sdias must have chosen the online process..hence the 30 days thing..the offline process dosen't have the same requirements..why does one have to choose the online process?

If I use the OFFlINE process, which means personally going to Mumbain Visa application centre and submitting the documents after the marriage date ie. Oct 1st. Will I get a interview appointment date in the next 3-4 days.? because i am returning back to US on Oct 15th.
