I am posting a few basic h4 visa stamping queries.
The principal has approved I797 and visa stamp in the passport and is getting married in ~ 2 months.
The would-be-spouse does not have the passport yet and is in India. To avoid further delay, can the principal use his passport to make a visa appointment in a consulate in India? The wait time for the consulates is ~ 2 months by which time the spouse expects to get the passport. However, the principal does not expect to be present at the time of the visa interview. Is it possible to change the appointment to the spouse's passport at a later date?
Does the principal need to be present together with the spouse at the interview time? VFS indicates that original I797 is required. How is this possible if the principal is not present with the spouse?
Is marriage certificate required or something else can be used in its place? How much time does it take to obtain the marriage certificate after the marriage ceremonies.
