My Story:

Feb 2008: Applied for H1
March 2008: Got married to a guy who already had H1
April 2008: Travelled to the US on H4 Visa
May 2008: My H1 got approved

My Question:

Can i start working from Oct 2008, without a going for a Visa interview since im already in the country.
I have a doubt because i was not in the country at the time of application.

Please help.

The answer depends on whether your H-1B application requested change of status or consular processing. Since you were not in the country at the time of your H-1B application, it is very likely that your application was for consular processing. If so, your status will not change automatically to H-1 and you will have to travel to a consulate outside the U.S. and apply for a visa stamp.
