H4 to H1 Visa Travel to India

I am on H4 Visa and applied for H1 (under the lottery cap April 18th )and got My recipt no.now i want to travel India b4 H1 approves .So can u plz tell me how much time will it take for the H1 approval?My husband's and mine too, visa will expire on May4th and he filled for H1 extention and got the extention .So is it sage for us to get the multiple visa stamping from India ?
