H4 to H1, status after H1 approval and b4 Oct 1st?

I will appreciate any feedback/comments on my issue:

I am currently on H4 visa and will go for H1 premium processing soon, My questions are:

1) Does anyone have a idea about current H1-B cap status?
how soon its going to be reached.

2) What will be my status between the period when my H1 is approved (let's say July 20th) and before my employment start date (Which is going to be Oct 1st)?

i would say only 20-25,000 appls were rcvd for new H1's. ur status will be H4 till Oct 1st.
