hi GURUS,

i am on H4 visa right now.
i am planning to change my visa status to F1.
do i need to go to other country for stamping??

(the reason why i am changing my visa status is, i am a physical therapist from india. i have applied credential evaluation for my job purpose. i need SSN for this. CA state dont aprove SSN for H4 visa holders. so, i will apply for I-20 in some college and change my status and hopefully get the SSN. instead of this is there any possible way to get SSN)

No you do not need to go out of the country to change your status to F1, you can just apply for a change of status in the US. it takes about 3-4 months. you'll need I20 and financial documents showing that you can cover first year of tuition and living expenses...
