H4 to F1

Hi, I am on an H4 right now and got an admission to a University. What is the process to convert from H4 to F1? How long does it take and are they very strict after Sep 11?

Conversion from F1 to H4

Hi Shilpa,
Yes, I guess it has become quite a deal to convert from H4 to F1 after 9/11. I got a RFE asking for further details like , my intent to return to home country,statement of purpose for pursuing the current study, my sponsor details etc.
 
Hi,
I would like to know if the International students advisor suggested any enclosures to be made at the time of filing COS-I539.Also is it possible to go to Canada and get the F1 stamped rather than going back to your home country.
I have not yet applied for COS though i have got my I20.
Would appreciate any suggestions.
