h4 to f1 visa stamping

Hello!

I came to US on H4 visa with my parents and changed to F1 visa a few years ago. I'm interested in going to India now and get my F1 visa stamped. However, I'm not sure how risky it will be.

(My father has an approved labor certification and his I-140 and I-485 are pending. I'm, however, not included in the I-485 since I was above 21 yrs age.)

Any suggestions will be greatly appreciated.

I have a similar problem. I plan to change my visa status from H4 to F1 . I want go to Mexico for that.
If anyone has gone to Mexican consulate , please Let me know your experiences
Which one do you think is a better option .Going to India or Canada /Mexico?
In case of rejection of my F1 , Can i come back to US on my H4 (H4 is valid till 2008)?
Also , do we have to submit the I-539 form for change of status?or only Ds-156,DS-157, DS-158?
