H4 to F1 change after already applying for H4 extension

Hello,
I am currently on H4 visa and have applied for extension for H4 about a month ago. Current H4 expires in July 2005.

I now want to apply for F1 status. Will the earlier application for H4 extension cause any problem to get F1 now?

If at all F1 application is rejected, will I still get the H4 extension?
