Hello,
I currently work in India and am now on an H4 visa which I use to travel back and forth between india and US to meet my family .
Now, I have found an employer in US who is willing to sponsor an H1B for me to work in US. They plan to do the same by catching the April 1 filing date and start date of October 1 2006. The company is an Indian company which has started a US subsidiary. Hence, the US subsidiary is looking at employing me.
However, they want me to start some preliminary work as soon as possible and it basically includes a research of the market . Is it ok for me to do some preliminary work without any remuneration or job offer from the employer. Are there any legal pitfalls?
Or is it necessary that the Indian company employes me first and i visit US for business purposes on a B1 visa. In which case can my H4 be converted to a B1 ? Is that possible?
