H4 stamping for wife of a Canadian Citizen

Hello Forum,

I understand that as a Canadian citizen I wouldn't need an H1 stamping if I am issued an H1 visa. My wife is not Canadian, and I want to know if getting her an H4 would require a visit to the US embassy. Thanks for your input
