I am getting married in May this year. I am getting a new H1-B at that time and also getting my spouse interviewed with me for an H4 at the same time. We will goto Delhi embassy since we are both from North India.
My friends pass around documents from Indian MNCs like Wipro/Infosys saying that principal's name needs to be added to spouse's passport for Delhi and Calcutta.
I saw the need for spouse endorsement only on the Calcutta consulate website. Chennai and Mumbai consulates and Delhi embassy sites do not mention the need for endorsement.
What does it take to get spouse name endorsement? How long does the passport office take?
In another thread of a guy's wife going for H4 in Jan 2006 in Delhi got a successful interview without spouse endorsement in her passport. My friend's wife in Oct 2004 didnt have a spouse endorsement either in her passport.
If people from Delhi who have had recent H4 visa stampings can please help share their experiences it would be very helpful. Also if people who can share endorsement experiences that will help too.
