Hi,

Do h4 applicant need to have his/her spouse name added to the passport before applying for the visa ? I believe this would be another hassle if this is required as it may take more time to add spouse name in the passport by the passport authority and people on h1 go for short vacation to india and getting married. HOw true is it? Can someone clarify on this? TIA

Ask the consulate that you want to get h4 visa from by email.
They are very prompt and particular.

And for your information, now in passport office they have premium service like here, and most probably name addition can be done in 2-3 days. (I hope you are visiting india more than 2-3 days)
