H4 interview @ Chennai consulate: Delay in receiving passports

Could anybody please share their experience of delay(worst case waiting time) in receiving passports after H4 visa at any of Indian US consulates?
I have seen that people had to face delays in receiving their passports(even 2 weeks) after H1 interview due to the new PIMS system introduced at the US consulates.(starting December)

All the help is appreciated.

-went to Mumbai consulate on 28th Dec 2007.
-was not aware of the PIMS directive.
-consular officer said that I will have to wait 48 working hours to receive approval email and then submit my passport with a copy of the email.
-have not received any email as of today - Jan 5th 2008.
