H4 help. Endorsing spouse name in the Passport.

Hi All,

I would really appreciate if you could help me.

I am from kerala and my wife is from Goa. We got married last month. She is going to attend interview in Bombay for her H4 next month. I came to know that my name should be there in her passport. I tried to endorse my name in her passport but the passport authority is saying that they can not add the name in the current passport and they have to issue a new passport with the new number. But I have already submitted the application with the current passport number.

My question: is it necessary to add my name in her passport? If yes, then what is the solution for this issue?

How hard is it to get H4 Stamped from Bombay consulate? Do they ask all previous year’s W2’s? Because I have some issue with my 2002 W2.

Some one please share their experience from Bombay consulate?

Thank you all.

Hi rsushma
She is from Goa and I heard the interview in Bombay is little easy than Chennai.
I can endorse my name in her passport within 10 days. But they will issue a new passport with new number. (I have given the current passport number wile taking the appointment).

My question is will they accept the new passport with new number? Along with the current one?

I will appreciate if u could reply.

Thanks,
Prasad

Dear Sir/Madam,

Thank you for your Email,

If you want to change the passport then kindly get the new passport
and
then apply for the interview date.

If you apply for the interview with the current passport and appear for
the
interview with the new passport your interview will not be held as the
details will change.

Regards,

VFS TEAM

Dear Sir/Madam,

She will be getting a new passport with the new number
if she is adding spouse name. Does it mean she has to
get new appointment date? Or she can appear in the
consulate with both passports (current and new) for
the existing appointment which is in OCT end?

Please Advice,

Thanks,
Prasad

My wife never endorsed my name in her passport. She just used her passport in her maiden name. She had no problem getting her H-4 from Mumbai US Consulate. She just showed her marriage registration certificate/marriage photos. No W-2s were asked. This was done late last year.

they r very clear in what they want.

you can probably take a chance...ask your spouse to go to consulate with the current passport ( without your name )...let her try...if by luck she gets everything is done....

else u will have to go for new appoitment...but....then atleast we can try now
