My cousin came to US on H-4 and she applied for H-1 and it got approved but with her husband's last
name(abc) eventhough her passport is having her parents last name(xyz).She appiled USCIS for correction of her last name change and they denied the name change because of her marriage certificate where in its been mentioned as, before marriage last name is 'xyz' and after marriage last name is 'abc'.So she applied for a new passport with her husband's last name(abc) and she got it.
But when she went to SSN office, they denied to issue SSN and they stated that the record shows that she is still on H4.SSN office people asked them to go to local INS office.
So When she went to INS office they said they have no rights to change her last name in I94 database and asked her to go to nearby Immigration Customs office.
But even the customs refused to do so and told that those who issued H1 has to change the last name and again the story begins.
How can she overcome this situation?
Any suggestions please! Urgent!
