H4 EXTN H1 NEW - both petitions with INS

Hello,
   I entered the US on Nov 20 and filed for an H4 extension with Vermont on Dec 5(H4 expired on Dec 10). On Jan 17 my H1B was filed for at Texas.
On Apriul 16, my H1B was approved by Texas. At the time of filing for H1b I provided the H4 extn receipt notice.
What happens to my H4 extension petition at vermont now that the H1 is approved? Will INS automatically cancel this one(the H4 extn)? What happens if lets say in a week or two the H4 also gets approved.
Your help would be greatly appreciated.
