H4 Extension Problem: Urgent

I am on H4 and my husband's H1 stamp expires on Jan.10th. He is going to apply for his H1 extension and my H4 extension. But I have a job offer and employer wants to do Premium Processing for my new H1 which comes in 3-4 weeks. Here is the confusion:
a.)I want to go for the job but what if my H1 is rejected and I come to know after 10th Jan? Will it be too late to file for my h4 after Jan 10th as by then my husband will have filed for H1? My husband is supposed to file for H1 extension in a day or two.
b.)Can we apply for H1 and H4 at the same time and revoke the H4 application once H1 comes? As it is fast track H1 it will definitely come before H4 comes. In case H1 is rejected we can always rely on already filed H4? Is this safe approach?

Please suggest a way out.

To my understanding apply you H4 extension first and then apply your H1 attaching your H4 receipt notice to the H1 documentation.
