H4 extension and J1

Hi,

I have a very specific question about transition from H4 to J1 for medical residency. I couldn;t find the answer in any of the earlier posts on this subject. I am on a H4 extension (having exhausted the 6 years) based on my husband's approved labor and I140. I am planning to start my residency next year on a J1. I want to know if there is any problem in getting a J1 because of the H4 extension.

Shouldnt be a problem getting J1 while on H4 if u manage to get letter of need etc. Many people i know have done it. Problem is then you will be stuck with HRR even though your husbands GC may get approved.
