My wife got H1B approved from an employer in late FEB'06. Due health and other issues she couldn’t work till now but now she wants start working.
She went to social security office today to get her SSNID but the clerk refused to accept her application as she doesn’t have H1B VISA stamping on her passport.
Currently she has FEDERAL TAX ID. Can she legally work in America with a valid H1B and Federal Tax id ?? Does she really need SSN to work ?
I would really appreciate your help in answering my question.
