Can I work as an independent consultant just for few hours with a firm while working on H1B sponsored by another employer. Also, what if I am current on CPT , f1 expired and h1b approved but will get active in October. Can I work as an independent consultant till then legally. What I work as a volunteer, will that be an option as this is a great opportunity for me.
