Once the 6 year time is reached on H1B visa, can one change to H4 dependent visa ( assuming spouse has a H1B visa ) immediately?
In that case, does he still have to leave US for a year ?
I don\'t think so. I was on H-1B visa for about a year and had to change to H-4. Then I learned that actually you count the total number of years on an "H" visa, whether H-1 or H-4. Hope this helps.
