Hi,

I am getting married on this weekend and I am going for H1b visa Stamping next week.In I156 I checked Single (never married).Do I need to change it.If I keep it as a single will it be a problem for me.Will the consulor people know about my marital status. Please help me.

Thanks,
Anu

Questions appearing in the first block cannot be changed online. However, the consulate will allow you to change that on the day of stamping. Please do not hide anything.

Thank you.

The problem is I wont get the marriage certificate by the time I go for Visa.
How can I tell them I got married.

Thanks,

Anu

I would also say that I was recently married. If the interviewing officer asks, say that you got married last week and do not have the marriage certificate as yet. You could consider taking some photographs from your wedding ceremony as proof.

Not mentioning might not hurt you in anyway, but don't let it haunt you later on at some other stage. And congratulations on the upcoming wedding :D.

Be honest and mention about your marriage.

If you mention single and later when you wife applies for dependent visa she might get into problem. As you marriage date on Marriage certificate will be somewhere before your visa interview.
My advise would be to mention correct date of your marriage ( the one on marriage certificate).
