Hi All,

I need advise at the earliest please.

My Original H1B had expired on april 2002 (more than 1 year back).
And I got my H1 extended. But I had not sent it for stamping (visa revalidation at St Louis).
Now I have to travel to India.

1. Is it possible for me to get it stamped now in US consulate Chennai?
2. Is yes, can I use the tts drop box facility?
3. If no, what are the other options for me?

it is very urgent. Please help. Advise on this is greatly appreciated.

Thanks

Re-validation post 1 yr

rittu826,

You can avail of SL re-validation or drop-box re-validation if your visa has expired less than 1 year ago. I guess you need to appear for a personal interview after that.

I have somewhat of a similar situation where my visa expired last October. I applied for extension (SL) in August as I realized that after 1 year of expiry things may be more time consuming. I am still waiting for my approval. I need to leave for India on Nov/end and if I don't get my approval till then, then I will have to visit local consulate (in my case Mumbai) for an interview. Interview for Mumbai can be applied for on-line at http://www.visa-services.com. I don't know about Chennai.

Good Luck,

1. Yes.

2. No. visit ttsvisas.com. when you go thru the dropbox eligibility criteria, you'll see that you dont qualify becos your visa expired more than a year ago.

3. From the same site, you can schedule an interview appointment (need your passport, h1 details). Dates are avlbl for nov and dec. Jan dates are not yet available. Get a dec date now and modify it later from the web itself, if you need Jan appt.

Thanks for the replies confusedalien and mrm.

Another question.

Will the past 365 days cause any problem? What I mean is, will the consulate find that as a valid reason to reject the stamping? Till now, I have a proper status and no issues.

I am a bit apprehensive about this whole process of going for interview.

Thanks

you had the H1 approval all along, right?

If only the visa stamping had expired, it doesn't matter at all. take it easy. take all docs and more. you should be fine.
